The play is a well-timed, pioneering work of political satire, commenting on the corruption of the authorities, the petty tyrants, the humble employees, the bureaucrats who serve the status quo and oppress life, by loading problems and ill-doings on other people’s lives.

The Inspector, the theatrical masterpiece by Nikolai Gogol, is being performed and published continuously in many countries around the world, always to the same warm reception. We expect that the public in Cyprus will have the same reaction to this timeless comedy, which will be presented by the THOC Main Stage and will premiere on March 19^th, 2005.

The production will be directed by Giannis Iordanides, who has been involved in many noteworthy productions, among which are Maria Stuart (1993) and Madwoman of Chaillot (1995), both very successful productions of THOC.

The production team for Gogol’s play, which uncovers the abuse and bribery practiced by authority, is complemented by Stavros Antonopoulos (Stage-Costume Design) and Evagoras Karagiorgis (Music). Giannis Ioardanides signs of for Translation and Text Dramaturgy.
