From Actor to Mime - A workshop with Guillaume Pigé
September 4-8th, THOC Theatre Nicosia
ΝέαThis is an exciting and inventive insight into the work of Etienne Decroux (father of modern mime) and his assistants, and on how Theatre Re uses corporeal mime to create new material for theatre.
From body articulation to counterweights, from dynamo rhythm to mobile statuary, and from the repertory to improvisation participants will discover how to create movement in stillness, how to be ready for action and how to rehearse a play before writing it.
This workshop is for professional and semi-professionals actors, acting and dance students as well as performers wishing to enhance their physical presence on stage, but also to anyone (teachers & trainers) involved in the devised theatre where the actor is at the center of the creation process.
Guillaume Pigé is an actor, director, mime and magician. He formed Theatre Re in 2009.
Guillaume trained at the Conservatory of Villeurbanne (FR) and graduated from the International School of Corporeal Mime in London under the direction of Corinne Soum and Steven Wasson. He also studied with Thomas Leabhart and Daniel Stein. Guillaume holds an MA in Text and Performance Studies from King’s College & RADA.
Apart from directing and performing in all Theatre Re’s productions to date, Guillaume worked as a Movement Director with Andrew Visnevski, Sue Dunderdale and Bill Gaskill. He is an Associate Teacher at RADA, and is regularly invited to give workshops in the UK (London International Mime Festival, Fourth Monkey TC), the US (Louisiana State University) and France (Conservatory of Villeurbanne).
He was recently commissioned by The National Theatre (UK) to produce a new literal translation of Tartuffe by Molière.
Guillaume is an Associate Artist at The Point, Eastleigh and South Hill Park Arts Centre (UK) and a Supported Artist at The Greenwich Theatre.
