“A Vision of the World We Want to Live in”
The International Conference of the European Theatre Convention and the Young Europe IV Festival took place in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, from 17 to 21 April 2024.
Almost two hundred theatre professionals, directors and artists gathered for these two ETC events under the motto “The Young. The Bold. Break the Mould”. Among them was the team behind Thoc’s production of Zoe Apostolidou’s play “FAT”, directed by Elena Sokratous. The play was written and produced as part of the “Young Europe IV” programme, the aim of which was to highlight non-dominant voices. Together with "FAT", seven other plays emerged from this process and were performed as classroom plays at the festival.
"FAT" was performed twice on Friday, 19 April 2024, once for school pupils and once to the public. The play’s performers, Nayia T. Karacosta and Aris Kyprianou, were warmly applauded and made an unforgettable impression on both audiences. With them were the author of the play, Zoe Apostolidou, director Elena Sokratous, technician Michalis Stavrou, dramaturgical advisers Marina Maleni and Kyriaki Argyrou, and Thoc board member Xenakis Kyriakidis.
